Martin’s Ramp and Turnaround
Every truckie’s used it
Who lives out on the Swan
And bought most of their mates around
To load and unload on.
It’s overgrown with weeds
Once square front battered down
From dozens of semi-trailers knocking it around.
A pile of splintered sleepers
Laying on the ground
Fill the gap
Back of trailer and battered mound.
There’s been no toll exacted
For usage of the ramp
And I know it’s not expected
At Martin’s ramp and turnaround.
There should be some recognition
For this inconspicuous mound
It’s played a leading role
In transport local, north and south.
There should be some recognition
For the people who own this mound
Who are happy with a friendly wave
From truckies loading on
Their ramp and turnaround.
